Top Memecoins to Watch in 2025

Whether you’re new to crypto or an active degen, chances are you’re aware of the memecoin boom that’s been sweeping the industry. It seems almost daily a new memecoin is released, making it more and more difficult to discern which ones might be worth jumping onto.
While the memecoin market is highly speculative, there are some that have stood out among the pack.
But First, a Word about Memecoins
Before exploring memecoins for fun or for possible investment, it’s important to understand that putting money into memecoins is extremely precarious. Memecoins are typically highly speculative assets with no fundamental value, making them particularly risky investments.
Memecoin tokens often experience extreme price swings and many eventually lose most or all of their value. Thus, it’s vital you do your research if you’re seriously considering plunking down diñero and these volatile, fluctuating cryptocurrencies.

Quick Research Tips
Some information is more valuable than others, so when researching memecoins, it’s important to know what to look for.
High on the list is researching a memecoin’s development team and history. If a token is backed and pushed by legitimate, well-known and trusted team members in the Web3 space, it tends to have a higher chance of success.
It’s also important to understand a memecoin’s utility and technology. Most do not have any practical utility, so any real use cases can help increase the chances the token will succeed.
Reviewing a memecoin’s token distribution and tokenomics can help you be aware of potential scams and can help you avoid pump-and-dump schemes.
Memecoins to Watch in 2025
Here are our picks—in no particular order—for memecoins you should watch out for in 2025.
MANEKI
Part of the memecoin boom has been centered around Solana projects, and Maneki ($MANEKI) falls under that category. The memecoin is a reference to the Japanese cat—maneki-neko—which is seen as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune within the culture.
Part of $MANEKI’s allure is that it represents good luck, wealth, and success—all attributes that its holders are (presumably) seeking—which is alignment that’s actually helping drive people to the memecoin.
But unlike traditional memecoins, Maneki is trying to differentiate itself by not only being relevant culturally to crypto enthusiasts, but also by attempting to outline practical utility for $MANEKI in the future. Outside of being emblazoned on billboards in Times Square and continuing it’s push to be culturally relevant, it remains to be seen if $MANEKI can truly soar, but we believe it has that potential and more—especially for the Solana ecosystem—if it can lock down real utility and significantly advance its use cases for being adopted as an acceptable method of payment.
DOGE
When it comes to memecoins, Dogecoin ($DOGE) is considered to be a “top dog,” having burst onto the scene in 2021, despite first being created in 2013.
Despite not having any technical utility, $DOGE makes this list for its staying power within the crypto industry, and because of its mainstream adoption—predominantly through Elon Musk’s support and influence. Through Musk’s company Tesla, Dogecoin is being tested as an acceptable form of payment for small accessories, and his support of the memecoin has been able to influence its value and visibility.
As a payment method, $DOGE is seeing traction from both Tesla and and the Dallas Mavericks, who also accepted the memecoin as a payment method for tickets and merchandise.
Other factors that could contribute to $DOGE blossoming in 2025 are the memecoin’s low barrier to entry, which makes it appealing to new entrants, it’s available on most of the major exchanges, and the community is fun and lighthearted. If $DOGE emerges as a method of payment for more future entities or continues to its key position in memecoin culture, it could be poised for future growth.
WEN
Wen ($WEN) is a memecoin project on Solana centered around the fractionalisation of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), a concept—that unlike most of its counterparts—employs a very tangible utility.
Each $WEN is reflective of a fractional ownership of the poem A Love Letter to Wen Bros, which has been used to promote inclusivity and positivity, particularly within and around the Solana ecosystem.
If $WEN can continue to ride the wave of memecoin popularity—particularly riding the wave on Solana—and continue to build out its fractionalisation utility, it could be positioned for success in 2025.
PEPE
Jumping over to Ethereum is Pepe ($PEPE), a frog-themed token on Ethereum that, like most memecoins, has value primarily driven by social momentum and community engagement.
$PEPE makes this list because of its cultural resonance: The token leverages the popular Pepe the Frog meme, which has become a significant part of Internet culture, and its built-in familiarity has helped it attract attention.
The token also launched during a period when there was renewed interest in memecoins, especially following earlier successes of tokens like $DOGE and $SHIB, making the market particularly receptive to new meme-based projects.
Subsequently, $PEPE then developed a highly active community on social media platforms, particularly X and Telegram, where the community's enthusiasm and meme-creation helped drive viral marketing. Should the marketing and culture reach continue to expand, $PEPE could be in for an expansion next year as well.
BONK
Rounding out this list is another Solana-based memecoin—$BONK—a token that saw significant activity in late 2023/early 2024. Its connection to the Solana ecosystem gave it some differentiation from other memecoins and helped it ride atop the Solana meme craze.
$BONK gained popularity for several distinctive reasons, most notably from launching on Solana and filling a "memecoin gap" within the ecosystem, similar to what $DOGE and $SHIB did for Ethereum.
The memecoin also generated strong Solana-native community support with active social media presences, particularly on Twitter/X. This led to regular meme creation and viral marketing, eventually leading to integration with Solana NFT projects and marketplaces.
Because $BONK is being used for trading fee payments on some Solana platforms and is being woven into certain gaming, social, and NFT projects within the Solana ecosystem, the memecoin could be well positioned to reach new heights in 2025.
Beyond the Memes
Memecoins are typically driven by community sentiment and social media attention rather than fundamental value. While some have seen significant price movements, they come with extreme risks.
If you're interested in cryptocurrency investments, consider researching projects with strong fundamentals, clear use cases, and established development teams rather than speculative memecoins.
